#1 Re: General » Throwback CE3 CRG emai lissue » 2019-02-06 22:50:30

Thanks, Matthew. Hopefully I can clear up some time soon to update everything to BL2. Is there a direct upgrade path for galleries on this old platform straight to BL2 or will it be an entire pull down and re-upload affair?

Hey all. I am still running CE3 (even though I bought CE4 years ago) and am having an issue with emails and the CRG. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to receive emails from clients anymore. Used to work like a champ, but anymore emails that are submitted are never sent. Knowing that nothing has changed on my end, is it a form-to-email issue or something else? I have looked and looked and cannot figure out where the send-to email address is even located in the code! Thank you so much for your help. Maybe some day I will find the time to upgrade all the way to BL2!!

#3 Re: CE4 Pages » Placing navigation container in masthead » 2015-06-28 14:42:13

Very cool ideas in the blog post, but I was looking to get the navigation inline with the identity plate. With a little fiddling both the "Integration" and Navigation background" make this possible without special coding. I played around with the orphan and drop settings but couldn't come to the same inline outcome. I am far from finishing up my new CE4 templates and may play around more with it. Thank you very much again, as usual!

And I just found the options under Identity to use it for "Integrated" and "Navigation background". Those must be new to CE4? From here I thin I can get it figured out.

Yeah I looked over that earlier today, but it doesn't show how I achieved this look. I tried making it an orphan and of course that didn't do it. If I could place a negative margin on the Navigation I could make it go up over the masthead, but I cannot in LR. I wish I could remember what I had to do to make the navigation and the masthead/identity plate line up on the bottom. Are you seeing what I am referring to?

Quick question, and I know I got the answer to this somewhere when I was first creating my CE3 site but I cannot find it now. As you can see here in this link

http://jforbishweddings.com/galleries.php

I some how placed my navigation in the masthead or at least OVER the masthead so that the navigation and identity plate lined up vs identity plate on top navigation below. Since I lost all of my templates due to an unfortunate reformat a few months back, I cannot call up my CE3 pages template to see what I did. I am of course now working in CE4 trying to rebuild newer and better templates.

Something tells me that I had to go into Custom CSS to make them line up, but cannot remember. Any advice? Thanks!

Okay. Yes, I use Publisher. The Username and Password for the clients and the master are of course exported and uploaded as a template and used via the Publisher to create the galleries. I do not use Publishers built in password setup unless I need to protect a sub folder inside an album set. Thanks again.

So should it have not been the way I described or is that normal to have to change both or just the template_index file? Changing the client username and password in only the index.php file would not allow access to the gallery, only after I changed both did it work.  And any idea why my master credentials have never seemed to work?

Oh, and thanks as always!

#9 Re: General » Had to reformat computer, lost all preset templates » 2015-01-09 16:28:33

Hey Rod, so I figured out that you actually have to either change BOTH the index.php and template_index.php files as stated above or JUST the template_index.php file. I cannot say for sure which it is, but I know only changing the index.php did not fix it for me, the site would not accept the new passwords until I changed both files. Just so anyone who comes across this knows.

PS, my master username and password have never worked. any idea what could be going on there? I have them activated, but never once has the master user/pass allowed me to access a gallery.

Sort of on the topic, do you know if I can manually edit the username and password for gallery templates I have existing? I always created a new template for each client with their password built in and used Publisher to assign PWs and Usernames for any subfolders that may need it. So I am saying all of my templates currently have PWs and Usernames coded into them and I would need to change the coding manually as opposed to re-doing in LR.

I will be switching to CE4 since this has happened now, but I have a few galleries I need to get up ASAP. Thanks again.

That's what I thought. Thanks, sir. MAKE BACKUPS PEOPLE! Don't be me!

So quick question and I think I know that answer. I was stupid and failed to create backup copies of all my website plugin templates and had to reformat my computer. I DO have backups of the exported pages, stage, client response, etc. though. Is there any way the exported templates can be used to rebuild my custom presets, or am I simply screwed and need to start from scratch (Which wouldn't be TERRIBLE since I still haven't even installed my CE4 plugins yet)?? Thanks for your help.

Okay. I knew I had seen something there before, but I couldn't find it! Thanks so much.

Hey all, I just had all of my sites taken down/suspended today because of "Excessive requests". I had posted a question earlier today here and had a whopping 29 visits to the specific page in about 20 minutes and they shut me down. I have never had them do it before and don't want to deal with this again. The host is IPower. I have been with them for 10 or so years now. They said I should have a dedicated server or a VPS, but if I am going to switch I am going to switch away from them. Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Hello there, quick question and sorry if it has been addressed already, I did a quick scan of the forums and didn't find a yay or nay. Is CE3 100% fully functional inside of LR5? Only asking as I am contemplating the switch from LR4. Thanks!

#16 Re: General » Stage info » 2013-06-06 06:56:43

Awesome, thanks sir! Yeah, no way would I make all of my galleries Flip style, it was simply a for instance. But I think you got that. You are the man. I will check out your blog as well.

#17 Re: General » Stage info » 2013-06-06 06:19:21

Oh, ok. I think I got it. When I purchased it I had though that Stage was how you created that cool Flip Home page and was baffled by the fact that I could make it in Pages as well. So, with Stage, if I were so inclined, I could make EVERY page a flip gallery, not just my home page. So I upload the entire Stage file to the Root and link to it in my nav and not just its contents. Sorry for the newb questions. Now to figure everything else out.

#18 Re: General » Stage info » 2013-06-06 05:52:35

Thank you! But for instance, when I use Stage to create a new Home Flip gallery, why would I do it that way instead of just editing the Pages version of the same Flip Gallery? Also, when I use Stage to make supplemental pages do I simply upload them to the root folder and overwrite any existing (Such as index.php).

Also, when I create a Stage set and export it, do I simply upload the entire contents into my Root folder and let it overwrite anything it may need to?

I guess I am being very vague. I just don't understand where things need to go once I create them. I am sorry, I will get it. Is there any other links you would like to share with me?

I am a complete newb to this and I am having a hard time trying to figure out when/why/how I utilize Stage? I purchased the CE3 Publishing bundle and Stage. I see that I can create a Flip style gallery on my Home page in Pages as well as Stage, so why do I need Stage? Is there a simple workflow doc somewhere that I have not been able to find?

Bascially-
- I assume I do my Pages first and then upload
-Then I create Galleries, Upload
-When do I utilize Stage and how do I implement it?

Sorry, I have been hand coding my sites for years and am completely new to this style of setup. I realize once I figure ot all out it should be easy, but until then. I have read all of the tutorials (1-8) and the easy start docs and such, but I am still lost. Thanks in advance!
