#2 Backlight 2 Support » Upgrade from Early Backlight Versions to Backlight 2 » 2019-12-02 00:25:35

I am running older versions of Backlight (Pages 123 release 4, Wordpress 1.25, Galleria 100, Client Response 712). I am about to upgrade to Backlight 2. Can I just do the update from my older versions, or do I need to first upgrade them to the last Backlight versions before the Backlight 2 upgrade?
Thanks very much!
Alan

#4 Backlight Support » Getting Closer, But Not Quite There » 2018-05-12 06:43:19

Rod and Others,
I apologize for all my very basic Backlight questions, but I assure you for each one I ask I have searched the documentation and searched the community forum and gone through the Backlight settings and templates before asking!

I have LR Publisher working to get a test collection published as a gallery on my test site (www.AlanSislenPhotography/backlight-test). I have two questions:
1 - I published a group of images that are being used for a Galleria add-in slideshow on my homepage.  In Publisher, I checked "Hide from Album Set" and "Hide from Search."  When I click on Galleries from my nav menu, that album still shows, but with an eyeball and a hash line through it.  I thought it wouldn't show???
2 - When a large image is shown from my test album, I can't use my keyboard arrow keys (or swipe on a mobile device) to move from image to image. I must have missed a setting somewhere, but I can't find it.

Thanks!

Alan

What is the best way to insert an autoplay slideshow above the text on a Backlight home page?  I have the Galleria plugin, but I can't find anything in any of the docs that explain if it is possible to insert a slideshow on a page.  I had no problem accomplishing this with CE4.
Thanks!

I am slowly setting up my test site on BlueHost, but have run into an issue I can't seem to solve. All my pages (and home page) were built using the same Default Page Template.  Four pages - Instruction, Prints, About and Contact are all showing the information on the very top of the screen that I input into the Footer.  Additionally, on those pages, the Navigation menu is above the masthead, when for my home page, the Nav menu is where I want it - below the masthead.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm currently running CE4 with the CE4 Publisher.  I am setting up a test site for Backlight.  The Backlight Publisher Setup instructions state that you can publish to more than one website or location and create multiple instances of TTG Publisher.  I've started installing TTG Publisher for Backlight in LR, but I want to be sure I don't delete or mess-up my ability to continue publishing to my CE4 website. Before I setup another instance of TTG Publisher (for Backlight) with the new API URL and Key, I just want to be sure setting up the 2nd instance is the way to do it!
Thanks!

I have been running my CE4 website on BlueHost for a number of years.  I figured it's time to begin setting up a basic test site with Backlight (which I bought a year ago!), but immediately ran into an issue.  Under public_html I created a directory, backlight-test.
I unzipped Backlight-Pages-123-Release 4 into that folder.
When I use my browser, I get the message, "Backlight is not yet configured.  Please login to Backlight to continue.  When I click on that link, I get the error, "An error occurred while processing this directive."
I contacted Bluehost and they verified that Varnish and Cloudflare are not enabled.
I checked the .htaccess file and it is configured to be writable for the User, but not Group and World
My folder hierachy looks like this:
public_html
  backlight-test
     backlight
       backlight
          galleries
          index.php
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

#14 CE4 Publisher » Published Galleries Gone! » 2018-05-01 23:07:10

I am in the process of setting up Backlight.  However, in the meantime, I am still using CE4.  I have lost the ability to use Publisher in LR 7.3.1.  I got the message "The nil plugin is not installed or not working properly."  I assumed a reinstall through the plug-in manager would solve the problem.  When I reinstalled the Publisher plugin, all my previously listed published galleries disappeared!  Is there a way to recover them?  I run on a Mac and am hoping if I know what file or folder the information is contained in, I can use Time Machine and go back a few days and restore the folder or file that contained the gallery information.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

#16 CE4 Client Response Gallery » Pencil Icon Missing » 2017-07-02 03:21:49

I haven't created a CE4 CRG gallery in quite sometime.  In the past, there was a pencil icon at the bottom left of the image thumbnails in the thumbnail view.  For the life of me, I can't find how to activate that pencil which is used to generate a comment.  I've gone through the CRG documentation, looked through the CRG gallery template, gone through the TTG-BE CRG settings and just can't find it. I know it's there somewhere! Can anyone help!
Thanks.

#18 Re: General » Website on BlueHost is Now Not Operational! » 2017-06-22 22:45:32

Ben, Matt, Daniel,

I did a search across public_html for "parsedown.php" and found a total of three occurrences.

1 - The one that Ben edited in public_html/lib/php/parsedown.php
2 - The one that Daniel mentioned in public_html/ttg-be/framework/lib/parsedown.php - that I replaced with Ben's edited version
3 - public_html/framework/lib/parsedown.php - that I replaced with Ben's edited version

So now all three occurrences have the Ben-edited version, but I can't display individual images in any of my galleries.

Daniel, Ben, Matt,

Daniel's suggestion seemed to work ... momentarily.  After copying the parsedown.php file in the public_html/lib/php that Ben edited yesterday to the ttg-be folder, my galleries seemed to working.  However, after a few minutes of testing the galleries successfully, they reverted back to displaying the following:

Class 'Parsedown' not found|#0 /home/alansisl/public_html/ttg-be/publisher/application/models/Album.php(89): Album->parsedown('######Portfo...') #1 /home/alansisl/public_html/ttg-be/templates/gallery/ttg_gallery_template/template_index.php(351): Album->getPageCopy() #2 /home/alansisl/public_html/ttg-be/publisher/application/controllers/GalleryController.php(328): include_once('/home/alansisl/...') #3 /home/alansisl/public_html/ttg-be/framework/controllers/Controller.php(41): GalleryController->gallery('98648', 'index', '') #4 /home/alansisl/public_html/ttg-be/framework/Framework.php(124): Controller->dispatch(Array) #5 /home/alansisl/public_html/galleries/10gallerysandwindandtime/lib.php(48): Framework->route() #6 /home/alansisl/public_html/galleries/10gallerysandwindandtime/index.php(4): route(Array) #7 {main}|URL: /galleries/10gallerysandwindandtime/index.php

Help would be greatly appreciated!

We had a bad storm last night and just lost all phones and internet.  Verizon isn't scheduled to come out until tomorrow.  I'll talk to Bluehost then and see if there was a recent update and see if they can roll it back.  I'll post my findings.  Thanks for your help.

Although I have purchased Backlight, I'm still using CE4 for my website, which is hosted on BlueHost for a number of years.  Something VERY strange just began happening.  If you go to my website, www.AlanSislenPhotography.com, all of my pages are being cut in half and none of the text is showing.  For example, on my homepage, there is a series of images on the top of the page that change and there is supposed to be text below it.  On my galleries page (I call it Portfolios), it doesn't show any of the galleries.  The only tab that's working is my WordPress blog, which is driven by your WP plugin.  If you look at the Contact tab, there is some error-type message.

I have tried three different browsers, all with the same result.  I have talked to BlueHost and they have no idea what is happening.

Please help!

#24 Re: CE4 Client Response Gallery » CRG Help! » 2017-06-03 07:02:03

Thanks, Ben.
I have run into one small issue.  I have loaded a new set of images into the CRG gallery.  However, before any selections are made, it is coming up showing 35 images have been selected, i.e. there is the number "35" next to the little "o" in the top right of the screen.  How can I "reset" the counter?

In the CE4 Publisher panel in the Library module, I deleted all images in the gallery, published that up to my website.  At that point there were no images in the gallery.  I then dragged 73 images into the gallery and published them up again.  It showed "35" selected even though I went through all the images and none were selected.
Thanks!

Ben,
Thanks VERY much!  I spoke to a very knowledgeable support person at Bluehost.  I wasn't using CloudFlare, but from your questions he turned off something called Varnish and my login problem disappeared!  I'm back in business!  You guys are the best!
