When I tried to sign up for "Blog Updates Sent to Your Email" in your Jan 4 communication, I got the following when I entered:

"mike@mhayes.us"

"Sorry, but that does not look like an email address to me."

I was able to register for the other items with that email

#2 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Wordpress does not accept markdown -Superscript in blog header » 2018-12-23 21:43:31

Actually, it does allow markdown, at least in the title smile.  I will look for the plugin and explore that option.

One small issue I am having with the Backlight generated theme is I cannot find the setting to choose summary vs full post presentation on the blog page.  I know ther is a setting for this but cannot find it.

#3 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Wordpress does not accept markdown -Superscript in blog header » 2018-12-23 00:32:22

I am not using a Backlight generated theme, just because I found a native Wordpress theme that did most of what I want. However it will not allow use of Markdown in the title. I did generate a logo image but it did not look quite like I wanted (It takes up quite a bit more space at the top).

Now that I realize that The Backlight theme will allow markdown, I will go back and explore using the Backlight generated theme. I had also found the page you linked to and the CSS seems more trouble than it is worth. I think I will pass on that approach.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Backlight allows use of markdown to format content and have been able to easily format the site header to what I want. I am having trouble doing the same for the Wordpress blog header, where markdown is apparently not allowed. My immediate interest is formatting for superscript

The Backlight home page has a superscript for the site:
http://m2photojourney.com/

So far, I cannot duplicate it in Wordpress and I am using "Squared" in place of (superscript)2:
http://m2photojourney.com/blog/

CSS can be used but this is new to me. I have done some web searching in the topic but, so far, it seems surprisingly complex and I am quite confused on how to accomplish this. I have ordered a CSS book (thanks Rod), but am wondering if someone has some canned CSS code for this?

Thanks
Mike

I will Post separately. It seems markdown is not allowed. I have ordered the book

Thanks

Problem solved. smile

Thanks

I did not see this in the documentation.

A quick question on another topic I would like to add superscript text to the title of the wordpress blog and it will not accept markdown entries. I have been trying to figure out the CSS for this without success. Any ideas and/or good links to start learning CSS?

I have a slideshow on my home page and do not want it to show with the other albums under /galleries.

The slideshow gallery is published to the default gallery publish service and I have turned on "Hide from Galleries" and "hide from search". My assumption is it should only appear when specifically called, such as "insert album" on the home page. However it still appears under /galleries.

http://m2photojourney.com/galleries/

The problem gallery is home-page-theater. It also shows another symbol before the name.

Am I approaching this correctly? If so, what is the issue? The only other way I can think of to accomplish this is to create another publish service.

#8 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Backlight login not working » 2018-12-20 07:22:06

I verified how it works. one time setup with the barcode then you need to get a code from your phone for each subsequent login

#9 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Backlight login not working » 2018-12-20 06:45:23

Replacing the backlight/.htaccess file kick started the process. It is working now.

For me, the logs are in backlight/data/admin/logs

After sorting this out, I looked in the documentation and could not find anything, only the pop-up on the settings page that says google authentication is used. I also turned it iff, since It requires authentication on every login rather than just registering a device. There are two of us logging into admin from two different computers. Is that what is causing this? Perhaps we should set up two different admin accounts (probably a good idea anyway). If we do that, will we sill have to get a code on every login?

#10 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Backlight login not working » 2018-12-20 05:02:40

I may have turned on Two factor. I was considering it but apparently did turned it on. I have not gotten anay emails from the site. How does it work?

I get the login prompt initially, then the failure message. Clearing the cache brings back the login screen and the cycle repeats.

How can I get past the two factor issue?

When typing mysite/backlight, I get

This page is not working

The browser ends up at

The last thing I was working on was that I added reCaptcha and the Paypal test keys

#12 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Cart configuration » 2018-12-19 14:54:51

-The absolute URL within my domain is now working. Apparently a typo on my end.
-Terms and conditions now working. The only Backlight change change is I entered the paypal sandbox settings. I also cleared my browser cache.
-Discount code resolved by clearing my browser cache. ant discount code change requires clearing browser

Thanks for the help
Mike

#13 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Cart configuration » 2018-12-17 15:00:07

Thumbnail problem solved using a combination of absolute URL and images in the album folder. It seems that the absolute URL cannot be in any folder under the the domain (m2photojourney.com). Referencing such a location gives a page not found error.

Thanks

Two more questions

1 - I had also asked about the discount codes. I configured a discount but it did not appear. It now does but I do not know why. When I change the percentage, it does not change in the cart. Apparently there is a ay to refresh it that I do not understand. How can I push  discount code changes to be in effect?

2 - I entered text into the "External Text box for "Terms and conditions" but only the default "Lorum ipsum..." text shows.

#14 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Cart configuration » 2018-12-17 05:11:53

I found the description for entering the pricing scheme in LR. I am moving from CE2 so am still learning a lot. Thanks for your patience smile

For the thumbnail issue:
When I leave the data-thumbnail attribute out, the checkout page shows the following path

http://m2photojourney.com/backlight/mod … holder.png

I converted a jpg and placed it there as placeholder.png and it does not show correctly. If i right click and open in a new tab, the image shows correctly.

When I enter another image file in the folder and add the data-thumbnail field, I get quite different behavior.
- In the "add item to cart" dialog I see a broken image link (nothing was there when not using the data-thumbnail entry). opening it in a new tab shows the original folio page
- in the cart, there is no image.

I know it is supposed to be a relative URL from the page location. Apparently I do not know what it is relative to.

For this album
http://m2photojourney.com/folios/manznar/

I currently have the following in LR album page copy(md) field

These images were all taken at the cemetery and monument of the Manzanar concentration camp in the Owens valley of California. This folio consists of all 10 of the images shown below in a folio cover as well as a Coliphon describing the folio. <br> <button class="add-to-cart" data-item="folio-manzanar" data-name="Manzanar" data-price="Folio" data-thumbnail="Manzanar.jpg"> Click to purchase</button>

For the following gallery there is no entry for the data-thumbnail
http://m2photojourney.com/folios/brooklyn-views/

Additional question: I have set up a discount code "family" but it reports "invalid discount code".

#15 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Cart configuration » 2018-12-17 02:29:07

The shipping was incomplete. After fixing it, got "no products are available for sale" and I realized that the available pricing schemes do not show in Lightroom under integration. Only "default" was listed. Typing in the desired scheme fixed the problem.  Is this an error? In other words, should LR show available pricing options. If not, it would be helpful if the documentation reflected this.

The Write in Purchase worked. Thanks. On the resulting checkout page, There is a placeholder.png displayed, but it is blank. I uploaded a png to the folder shown in the image path but it still looks the same. t looks fine if I open it in Mac Preview.

http://m2photojourney.com/backlight/mod … holder.png

Also, is there a way to have different images (placeholder.png) for different Write in Purchase buttons

I mailed you the updater credentials

Thanks
Mike

I have set up the cart and configured products and price, made changes to the checkout page, including deletion of several checkboxes and making the address required.

However the installed schemes are still showing up. I have tried clearing cache and a variety of other things with no effect. The following is the gallery I have set up

http://m2photojourney.com/galleries/southwestern-us/

If needed, the guest viewer login and password are:
guest-viewer
guest-viewer1

I can send the guest updater login if it is useful

I would also like to add a Write-in Purchase Button to each gallery in my folios page. The following is an example of a Page I would like to have a purchase button on. It would result in the purchase of the set of all images on the page. Each gallery added to the "Folios" page should have its own button.

http://m2photojourney.com/folios/brooklyn-views/

Where do I add the code? is it to the Page Copy field in the LR gallery, the Page copy in the album template, or somewhere else?

I would like to have an image to the right of the text on a page, such as my About page. A single image album could be used, above or below the Page Copy but what about to the side, or wrapping the image. Do I need to use a Wordpress page for this or are there other options?

#18 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Add-on purchase not showing » 2018-11-10 14:49:32

It is the same email. I just had the order emails re-sent to confirm. [mike@mhayes.us]

When I purchased BL2, I also purchased Cart and WP. They are there.

#20 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Install error » 2018-11-09 09:01:21

Thanks for the fix.

Neither the video or the written instructions remind you to preserve the data folder. While I should have remembered to do this , from previous upgrades, You should add this to the instructions fr those upgrading from BL1.

WordPress is installed but I am new to WP. I will read the instructions on this and come back later with any questions.

#21 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Install error » 2018-11-08 23:25:02

Login details sent to Rod

I had not been able to figure out anything on WordPress so suspect it is the  lack of a template

On the missing draft content from Backlight 1, all the basic site info was also missing, so I re-entered it

I will be traveling today so will be off-line till later

Thanks

I upgraded Backlight to Backlight 2 by following the video. Although I had only a rudimentary site setup with Backlight, it was gone after the update.  I had not done much with backlight so am not particularly concerned, but would be interested in knowing the cause of this..

My more immediate concern is the following error I am getting with Backlight 2 after trying to work with Wordpress

Something went wrong
The template could not be found for id 12 in GalleryDelegate.php on line 121

I am willing to go back to a clean install and start from the beginning if that is the simplest route. Please advise
